About Us
The Asian Students Association (ASA) of Villanova
University is a student network organization designed to increase
awareness of various asian cultures, and to strengthen unity among its
members through cultural, academic, athletic, and social programs.
Anyone who is interested in increasing cultural awareness is welcome to
join ASA and to participate in our programs.
Formed in 1991 under the leadership of Ed Choi, Joe Leung, and Steve
Pang, several Asian students sought to unite other Asians at Villanova
University. Throughout these past years, ASA has made great strides in
making itself known as a cultural organization on campus. Year after
year, ASA simply keeps on growing bigger and better!
Today, ASA continues in its goals to unite Asian students and educate
others of their heritage. ASA takes advantage of many campus events
throughout the academic school year in such things as fairs, picnics,
intramural sports, etc. ASA, however, does not limit itself to the
Villanova campus alone. We have worked with other local colleges and
universities, such as Temple University, Bryn Mawr College, University
of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, and many others to name a few, to
promote and achieve common goals. ASA is also a member of the Filipino Intercollegiate
Networking Dialogue (FIND) District V and the East Coast Asian Student
Union (ECAASU).
ASA is continuously and actively promoting unity, cooperation,
visibility, and success of Asian-American students. ASA has retained a
familial atmosphere due to the close friendship bonds that are created
within the club. This in turn has allowed those involved to look past
their differences and work together towards a common goal. And that is
the development of the Asian-American at Villanova University.
