Tryouts
The
Villanova Dance Team will hold tryouts for any Villanova student
interested in being a part of one of the most recognized student groups
on campus. You do not have to have prior dance experience to tryout, but
we do look for those who are enthusiastic and dedicated to being a
member of a team.
Tryouts
consist of a three-day process, in the beginning of the September of
each school year. During the first two days of tryouts a pom, jazz, and
hip hop routine will be taught. On the third day, the routines will be
performed and technical skills will be evaluated in front of a panel of
judges in groups of three. Technical skills include, but are not limited
to: leaps (right left, center, switch), fouette turns, axels, toe
touches, and double pirouettes. Individual interviews will then be
conducted following the tryout.
The
Villanova Dance Team is looking for students who are willing to commit
at least 4 (often more) nights of their week to practices, usually 2-3
hours each night, various night and weekend games, on-campus and
fundraising events. Practices this Fall will be held Sunday,
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights, starting around 6pm.
Once
selected and committed to the squad, team members are committed to the
squad for the ENTIRE school year. This is to allow only those who
are willing to make a serious commitment be a chosen member of the team. Also
note that all practices, games and performances are MANDATORY, with very
few exceptions (these include class commitments, family emergency, and
extreme illness). This is our policy as it is only possible to
complete routines with everyone present.
If
you have any other questions, please refer to the website first, as
there will be additional information posted. If your question is
still not answered after referring to the website, then e-mail the
captains, Tamara Allison and Alyssa Mitola.
