The mission of the organization is to establish a resource
for which students
will learn the role of fixed income within our society
through both
formal education and hands on experience.
The Fixed Income Society,
also known as FIS, is a society focused
on the activities related to
Bonds and investment products in the credit markets.
There are two components
that the society focuses on;
(1) first is the education
of all its current and new members on various topics related
to fixed income. This will create a level playing field for
all members when it comes to communication with regard to
terminology and investment strategy.
(2) Second is the
application aspect; utilizing fixed income knowledge to
create a virtual portfolio with a particular strategy and
ideally turn in a virtual profit.
(3) The ultimate goal of the
society is to join the VSB’s various other student managed
funds by having the first student run portfolio that is
invested primarily in fixed income securities.
