Constitution

 
Preamble
We, the members of the Villanova Polish Cultural Club do hereby establish this constitution in order to facilitate effectiveness and efficiency in the on-going operation of the organization.
 
Article I: Name
The name of this organization shall be the Villanova Polish Cultural Club.
 
Article II: Purpose
The purpose of the Villanova Polish Cultural Club is to propagate Polish Culture and Heritage in the Villanova University community, enrich all interested students with the knowledge of Polish Culture and Polish Traditions, as well as to help its new members to make them feel at home and to positively contribute to the institution of Villanova University itself.
 
Article III: Membership
Membership in the Villanova Polish Cultural Club is open to any matriculated students who have interests in Polish Culture and who are in good academic and disciplinary standing. Members should support their club on campus and act responsibly. Members should attend meetings and participate in activities and projects of the Polish Cultural Club. No college student may be denied membership on the basis of race, creed, sex, age, national origin or handicap.
 

Article IV: Officers

  1. The officers of this club shall be: President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. Additional officers such as V.P. Human resources shall be appointed as deemed necessary.
  2. The officers will be elected at the beginning of the academic year by all members present at the meeting. The length of terms for the officers shall be until the conclusion of the academic year in which they were elected.
  3. Duties of the elected officers:

      The President shall be the chief executive officer of the Club.
      Duties include:
      1. presiding at all meetings of the club or meeting of the steering committee,
      2. ensuring that the purpose of the club is pursued,
      3. providing leadership for the planning of activities,
      4. preparing and overseeing a budget.

      Vice-President:

      The Vice-President shall perform all duties of president whenever the president is absent. In addition the Vice-President will be responsible for the development and implementation of program plans.


      Treasurer:
      The Treasurer shall be responsible for preparing budget request, the proper expenditure of funds, and maintenance of accurate records of income and expenditure.
 
Article V: Committees
President will have the power to appoint special and standing committees to perform various functions when necessary.
 
Article VI: Meetings
The official meetings of the Polish Cultural Club shall take place once a month during the academic year, at appointed time at the club's room. Additional meeting can take place if President or other official request it.
 
Article VII: Quorum
Two-thirds (2/3) of the members present of the Polish Club shall constitute a quorum to transact business.
 
Article VIII: Amendment
Proposed amendments shall be submitted in writing and read at a regular meeting and shall be acted upon at the following meeting. This constitution may be amended by a majority vote of 2/3 of those members present at the meeting.
